Our Tournament Policies
Affirmation of Trans and Gender Diverse Rights
This tournament celebrates diversity and inclusion within the hockey community. We affirm that all players and participants, including women, trans, and gender diverse people, are welcome and respected in every aspect of this event.

By registering, you acknowledge that you:

Recognize and respect the rights of trans and gender diverse individuals to participate fully and safely;

Commit to using inclusive and affirming language;

Support an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on gender identity or expression.

Participation in this tournament means contributing to a space where everyone can play as their authentic selves. If that doesn’t align for you, we suggest seeking out a different tournament.
Code of Conduct
This Participant Conduct Policy (the “Policy”) applies to all events, programs, leagues and tournaments (each, a “Program”, and, collectively, “Programs”) offered and produced by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver’s LGBTQ+ Hockey Association (“CE”). By registering for any Programs through CE you (“Participant”) agree to be bound by this Policy.
All Participants have the following responsibilities:

Demonstrate & promote respect to individuals regardless of body type, physical characteristics, athletic ability, age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, place of origin, creed, disability, family status, marital status, gender identity, gender expression, sex, sexual orientation or any other grounds protected under Human Rights legislation in Canada.

Demonstrate & promote respect for the principles of fair play, sport leadership and ethical conduct. This includes:

Respect for both the letter and spirit of the rules of hockey;

Respect for referees/officials and their decisions;

Respect for opponents; and
-
Maintenance of self-control at all times
Participants must also demonstrate & promote respect for their teammates, both on and off the ice. This includes:
-
Being a positive and supportive teammate at all times;
-
Creating a welcoming environment in the locker room;
-
Helping de-escalate confrontations with opposing players on the ice, should they arise; and
-
Resolving conflicts between teammates in a professional and dignified manner
CE may, in its sole discretion, refuse admission to, suspend, eject/remove, or take other disciplinary action against Participant to prevent any and all conduct CE deems to be disorderly or inappropriate, including, without limitation, the following conduct:

harassment of any form, physical or emotional abuse, threatening, bullying, demeaning, embarrassing, or otherwise harming any other Relevant Persons;

using vulgar, foul, abusive, or offensive language;
-
engaging in behavior that diminishes the experience of other Relevant Persons such as engaging in aggressive or dangerous play, excessive body contact, poor sportsmanship, or other forms of abuse of Relevant Persons;
-
failing to comply with any Program-specific rules, terms, or conditions;
-
failing to comply with all applicable facility-specific rules; and
-
Participant’s participation in Programs is subject to the rules, policies, and additional terms and conditions available on CEs website, including the Participant Conduct Policy, Terms & Conditions, and any program-specific policies/rules (i.e., Tournament Rules & Game Formats, League Guidelines & Supplemental Rules, Player Discipline Guidance, etc.) that CE may provide to Participant from time to time.
All fees paid by Participant may be non-refundable, including if Participant is denied access to, suspended or ejected from, or otherwise subjected to disciplinary action at any Program.

Terms and Conditions
Waiver and Release of Liability
To participate in the tournament for which you are registering (the “Tournament”), you must agree to this Waiver and Release of Liability (this “Agreement”). This Agreement is entered into by and between you (“Participant,” “I,” “you,” “your”) and The Cutting Edges - Vancouver's LGBTQ+ Hockey Association (“CE”), and is a legally binding contract between you and CE.
For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties agree as follows:

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS CAREFULLY. BY ACCEPTING THIS AGREEMENT, EITHER BY CLICKING A BOX INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE, PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM, OR OTHERWISE AFFIRMATIVELY INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS AGREEMENT, AND AS A CONDITION TO PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS AGREEMENT, THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE OUR PERMISSION AND MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT.
I hereby acknowledge that participation in activities organized by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association involves certain inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of injury. In consideration of being allowed to participate in such activities, I agree to the following terms and conditions:

I will adhere to all rules, regulations, and codes of conduct set forth by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association and the league, and I understand that failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to suspension or expulsion from participation.

I acknowledge that injuries are a potential risk associated with participation in hockey activities, and I accept full responsibility for any injuries sustained during such activities. I understand that The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association does not provide reimbursement for any fees or expenses incurred as a result of injury.

I agree to return all equipment and jerseys provided to me by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association in the same condition as when received, normal wear and tear excepted. I understand that I will be responsible for the cost of any equipment or jerseys that are not returned or are returned damaged.

I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me or any property belonging to me while participating in activities organized by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association.

I understand that my participation in activities organized by The Cutting Edges - Vancouver LGBTQ+ Hockey Association is contingent upon my payment of all fees owed to the club, either in full or in accordance with an agreed-upon payment plan. Failure to fulfill payment obligations may result in my suspension or termination of participation.
I have read this waiver and fully understand its terms. I understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue, and I acknowledge that I am signing this waiver freely and voluntarily. I further certify that I am at least 19 years of age.
Refund Policy

The Cutting Edges ("CE") does not offer Participants any Credits, Refunds, carryovers, or the like for Participants that no-show, miss a date(s), become injured, or are ejected for misconduct or other behavior.

If CE or the hosting facility cancels the tournament, CE will offer Participant a Credit or, at Participant’s written request, a pro rata Refund, where such Credit or Refund is equal to the amount the Participant paid for the cancelled tournament.

If there is a Replacement Participant available to assume Participant’s spot in the tournament, participant may cancel their registration for the Free Agent Tournament by providing written notice at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to the applicable Free Agent Tournament start date, in which case CE will provide a full refund (less applicable transaction fees).

No refunds will be granted beginning fifty-nine (59) calendar days prior to the start date of the applicable Free Agent Tournament, even if a Replacement Participant is available. The registration payment will be retained in full by CE as a cancellation fee.

For purposes of the Policy, Replacement Participant means (i) an individual that, on the cancellation date, is on a waitlist maintained by CE for the tournament and such individual agrees to assume Participant s place in the Tournament, or (ii) an individual identified by Participant that is available to assume Participant’s spot in the Tournament. An individual’s status as a Replacement Participant is subject to CE’s approval, which will be granted in CE's sole discretion. For the avoidance of doubt, if no Replacement Participants are available for the applicable Tournament, Participant will not be entitled to a refund.
